Parking Matters completed a parking review for MSDC, producing a strategy for improvements to the parking estate, tariffs, and management systems. Follow-on work included a road space audit, feasibility study, and update of the Parking Strategy, working in partnership with the Council's team to reflect each town's needs.

What we did

  • Collaborated with MSDC on multiple commissions, beginning with a district-wide parking review to develop a parking strategy.
  • Worked with officers, councillors, and senior officer steering groups to update the parking strategy and create an action plan for off-street parking.
  • Conducted a road space audit for Haywards Heath providing insights into road infrastructure.
  • Reviewed two third-party studies on town centre and residential parking capacity.
  • Provided expert advice on the feasibility of consolidating car parks and creating modern multi-storey structures to support town centre vitality.
  • Engaged in partnership working to develop a shared understanding of each town’s unique characteristics.

Outcome

  • Development of a comprehensive parking strategy for the district, updated with input from various stakeholders.
  • Creation of an action plan for off-street parking management based on the updated parking strategy.
  • Expert advice provided on the feasibility of consolidating car parks and creating modern multi-storey structures to support town centre vitality.
  • Public documents are available on the MSDC website, promoting transparency and accessibility of parking-related information.
