Parking Matters completed a parking review for MSDC, producing a strategy for improvements to the parking estate, tariffs, and management systems. Follow-on work included a road space audit, feasibility study, and update of the Parking Strategy, working in partnership with the Council's team to reflect each town's needs.
What we did
- Collaborated with MSDC on multiple commissions, beginning with a district-wide parking review to develop a parking strategy.
- Worked with officers, councillors, and senior officer steering groups to update the parking strategy and create an action plan for off-street parking.
- Conducted a road space audit for Haywards Heath providing insights into road infrastructure.
- Reviewed two third-party studies on town centre and residential parking capacity.
- Provided expert advice on the feasibility of consolidating car parks and creating modern multi-storey structures to support town centre vitality.
- Engaged in partnership working to develop a shared understanding of each town’s unique characteristics.
Outcome
- Development of a comprehensive parking strategy for the district, updated with input from various stakeholders.
- Creation of an action plan for off-street parking management based on the updated parking strategy.
- Expert advice provided on the feasibility of consolidating car parks and creating modern multi-storey structures to support town centre vitality.
- Public documents are available on the MSDC website, promoting transparency and accessibility of parking-related information.
