- Conducted a strategic review of parking in Manchester city centre for the Council.
- Proposed a comprehensive new strategy with a 20-year horizon for parking and kerbside management.
- Reviewed on-street charging policies.
- Provided an assessment of combining off-street parking contracts with CCTV and on-street parking enforcement contracts.
- Conducted high-level modelling and forecasts to demonstrate the potential outcomes of different options and inform decision-making.
- Developed a plan to guide car parking provision and management for the next 20 years.
- Defined the role of parking in supporting the city centre economy and outlined future car park provision locations.
Outcome
- The proposed comprehensive parking strategy with a 20-year horizon was well-received by the Council with implementation of recommendations included as part of the City Centre Transport Strategy.
- Improved coordination and efficiency through combining off-street parking contracts with other enforcement contracts.
- Defined the role of parking in supporting the city centre economy and identified optimal locations for future car park provision.
